Welcome from Barry Albin-Dyer, President of FIAT/IFTA

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to London, and to IFTA 2006. London is one of the great cities of the world and Canary Wharf, our venue, is Europe's newest and most vibrant business district. With quick and easy access into the centre of London, there's plenty of opportunity to experience both the modern and traditional aspects of this exciting city.

Our business often unites us in tragedy, and there has been none greater in recent years than the Tsunami disaster of 2004. This event brought us together as a global business in ways that we have not witnessed before. IFTA 2006 will allow us to share and learn from events such as this, whilst focusing on new developments and trying to anticipate how future events may affect the way we work.

London is my home city; it is where I was born and where FA Albin and Sons has had its roots for more than 200 years. I am delighted to be hosting IFTA 2006 and I am very proud to be able to share my home with you.
